Description:
The Messaging team at Reddit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who excels in the intersection of infrastructure and software development.
The role involves working on engineering Kafka as a platform, focusing on orchestration, automation, and management of Kafka clusters across multi-cloud, multi-region deployments.
Additionally, the position involves promoting event-driven architectures, including developing Reddit-specific clients, schema registries, capacity management, and GitOps developer experience for Kafka interaction.
As a member of the Data Processing and Workflow Foundations team, you will tackle challenging infrastructure and software engineering problems that directly impact millions of Reddit users worldwide.
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of experience in developing internet-scale software, preferably in an infrastructure context.
Familiarity with asynchronous communication, with a bonus for Kafka knowledge.
Experience working with Kubernetes or similar distributed systems, with Kubernetes controller or operator development experience being a significant advantage.
Strong troubleshooting skills in systems and software, along with experience in engineering large systems and being proactive on projects.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with a service-oriented team and company.
