Description:

  • Weights & Biases is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead efforts in scaling metrics and storage engines for their AI developer platform.
  • The role involves making technical decisions to maximize performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness as the platform grows to handle petabytes of data.
  • Responsibilities include scaling a platform that ingests and queries terabytes of data daily, defining architecture for next-generation data systems, and advising development teams on building scalable services.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 5+ years of software development experience, particularly with high-scale APIs.
  • A demonstrated record of successfully leading complex projects from planning to execution is required.
  • The ability to mentor and grow junior engineers is essential.
  • Deep experience in designing and scaling customer-facing APIs in production is necessary, preferably with systems like MySQL/Postgres, Bigtable, and Kafka.
  • Excellent communication skills are required, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts simply.
  • A strong grasp of at least one higher-level programming language and its ecosystem (such as Go, Python, or TypeScript) is needed.
  • Candidates should be willing to debug issues at any layer of the tech stack, from the application layer to the network.
  • A demonstrated ability to think critically under pressure is also required.
