Description:

Percona is seeking a Senior C/C++ Software Engineer to join its Open Source Software Development team.
The role involves working on the Percona Server for MySQL, Percona XtraBackup, Percona XtraDB Cluster, and Oracle MySQL.
This is a remote position, allowing you to work from your home office with flexible work hours.
You will be required to travel approximately once per year for meetings.
A reliable high-speed internet connection is necessary, and the company provides a laptop and internet access.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing new features, diagnosing and fixing defects, performing periodic source code merges, contributing to upstream projects, developing test cases, participating in code and design reviews, mentoring team members, and engaging with other departments.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in fluent English.
A minimum of 5+ years of experience in C/C++ development and object-oriented design is necessary.
Strong understanding of SQL databases, preferably MySQL, is required.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of DBMS internal algorithms, compression and encryption algorithms, and techniques.
Experience with client/server or distributed network communication systems is essential.
Familiarity with high concurrency threading models, atomics, and locking primitives is required.
Knowledge of various programming and scripting languages such as BASH, Perl, and Python is necessary.
Proficiency with tools like gdb and strace, as well as git, GitHub, and source code management methodologies is required.
Knowledge of Open Source software concepts and community is essential.
