Description:
Grafana Cloud is a composable observability platform that integrates metrics, logs, and traces with Grafana, allowing customers to leverage open source observability software without the overhead of managing their own stack.
The Observability department focuses on enabling developers to understand the health and performance of their applications and infrastructure by providing tools for code instrumentation and data visualization.
The OpenTelemetry instrumentation team aims to assist users in successfully instrumenting their applications with OpenTelemetry, collaborating closely with OpenTelemetry SIGs.
Senior Software Engineers at Grafana have extensive experience and are responsible for estimating, planning, coordinating, and delivering large tasks across multiple systems.
Key responsibilities include developing improvements to the .NET SDK, contributing to OpenTelemetry components, promoting best practices, supporting the team's technical direction, and mentoring junior team members.
The role requires good communication skills and an independent attitude, as the engineering organization is largely remote.
Requirements:
Candidates should have a desire to contribute to or experience in Open Source communities.
A minimum of 8+ years of experience in software development with proficiency in at least one programming language is required.
Strong preference for experience with .NET (.NET Framework or .NET v8+).
Experience in writing clean, robust, and maintainable software is essential.
Candidates should have experience in delivering projects from requirements gathering to product shipping in a self-driven manner.
Some experience with cloud-based software development or systems engineering is necessary.
Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry from a developer's perspective is required.
Nice to have: experience in a technical leadership role, exposure to microservices architecture, and experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects.
Candidates should demonstrate ownership, a passion for observability, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to engage with customers and the OpenTelemetry community.

The base compensation range for this role in Germany is €103,412 - €124,094, with actual compensation varying based on experience and skillset.
