Remote Senior Software Engineer - Platform

Description:

• The Senior Software Engineer - Platform will be responsible for building the next generation platform to facilitate the creation of audio and video content using cutting-edge AI technology.
• They will work on developing a high-performance professional creative tool using web technologies that were traditionally limited to native desktop applications.
• The role involves building and deploying service infrastructure to support Descript’s production services with a focus on security, reliability, and scalability.
• The engineer will support observability of highly available services through telemetry, alerts, and SLOs to ensure performance and availability for users.
• The position requires managing the foundation that supports Descript’s engineering organization and customers, making it one of the most critical roles in the company.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Comfort with uncertainty and the ability to break down large projects into smaller, manageable features.
• Experience in building and managing highly available distributed applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Typescript, Python, Go, and technologies such as Cloud infra platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure), databases (e.g., PostGreSQL, Bigtable, BigQuery, Redis), and container runtimes (e.g., Docker).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
