Description:
As a Senior Software Engineer for Platform at Material Security, you will build and own ambitious projects spanning the company's highest-scale systems.
You will be responsible for balancing the reliability, performance, and resource-consumption of Material’s core platform services and subsystems.
Your responsibilities will include building a sophisticated and flexible attachment processing pipeline to detect malicious payloads.
You will develop new capabilities for link crawling and phishing site detection, including fake login portals.
You will partner with Material’s AI/ML experts to integrate more and better models into the phishing detection platform and to engineer the signals that power the same.
You will take ownership of large engineering initiatives that have a direct connection to top-line business growth.
You will scale the Phishing Protection product infrastructure to process more messages, meet tighter latency requirements, and optimize for cost of goods sold (COGS).
Requirements:
Strong software engineering fundamentals, raw coding ability, and problem-solving ability are essential for this position.
Ideal candidates should be prolific but careful coders in at least one mainstream language and have the ability to easily pick up new ones, such as Typescript.
Candidates must be able to quickly identify the best ways to tackle challenging problems while explaining their decisions to teammates.
Technical maturity is important; the engineering team values high-quality code written with minimal oversight.
Candidates should possess the foresight to understand what risks should and should not be taken to reliably ship production code.
Strong ownership is required; candidates should care deeply about the impact of their work and find satisfaction in a job well done, starting from the planning phase to post-deployment monitoring.

Compensation for this position is determined by various factors, including the individual’s knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
The projected compensation range for this position is between $161,500 and $254,100.
