Remote Senior Software Engineer, Platform

Description:

• As a Senior Software Engineer for Platform at Material Security, you will be responsible for building and owning ambitious projects that span the highest-scale systems.
• Your main focus will be on balancing the reliability, performance, and resource-consumption of Material’s core platform services and subsystems.
• You will build a sophisticated and flexible attachment processing pipeline to detect malicious payloads.
• Develop new capabilities for link crawling and phishing site detection, including fake login portals.
• Collaborate with Material’s AI/ML experts to integrate more and better models into the phishing detection platform and engineer the signals that power the same.
• Take ownership of large engineering initiatives directly connected to top-line business growth.
• Scale phishing protection product infrastructure to process more messages, meet tighter latency requirements, and optimize for cost of goods sold (COGS).

Requirements:

• Strong software engineering fundamentals, raw coding ability, and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Ideal candidates are proficient coders in at least one mainstream language and can easily learn new ones (e.g., Typescript).
• Ability to quickly identify the best approaches to tackle challenging problems and effectively communicate decisions to teammates.
• Technical maturity to write high-quality code independently and understand risks to reliably ship production code.
• Ownership mentality, caring deeply about the impact of your work and finding satisfaction in a job well done.
• Strong ownership from planning the approach to monitoring the behavior of shipped code in production.
