Description:

Percona is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Open Source Software Development team, focusing on the PostgreSQL open-source database and related components.
The role involves new feature development and bug fixing in collaboration with the upstream PostgreSQL Community.
The position is remote, allowing work from home with flexible hours, but requires access to a reliable high-speed internet connection.
Responsibilities include designing, coding, implementing, and documenting improvements to PostgreSQL, creating and submitting patches, performing root cause analysis of defects, developing test cases, participating in code reviews, diagnosing and fixing defects, and creating consumable documentation.
The engineer will represent Percona in the PostgreSQL developer community, share knowledge through conferences, blog posts, and public forums.

Requirements:

A minimum of 4 years of hands-on development experience and familiarity with related tools and build processes such as gcc, autoconf, and automake is required.
Candidates must have hands-on knowledge of PostgreSQL internals and experience in distributed system or database server development.
Proficiency in developer tools like git, gcc, and gdb is necessary, along with scripting skills in languages like Perl and Shell scripting.
The ability to work autonomously in a globally distributed organization and collaborate with open source communities via various communication platforms is essential.
Familiarity with collaboration and tracking tools like Jira and Notion is required.
Effective communication skills in fluent English, both written and spoken, are necessary.
Candidates should be quick learners and great team players.
