The role involves owning a pod in the product engineering organization, working with talented engineers to create impactful product features that enhance customer experience and drive revenue.
Responsibilities include developing REST and JSON API services, decomposing existing services into scalable microservices, and building services that scale horizontally.
The position requires working with technologies such as Golang, Python, PHP, Java, AWS, and Kafka, and emphasizes test-driven development.
The engineer will incorporate metrics into new services, troubleshoot issues with cross-functional teams, and innovate ideas for customer experience.
The role also involves enforcing best practices, strategically planning tasks, and owning the SLA(s) around APIs.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience developing end-to-end high-traffic responsive cross-platform sites.
A working knowledge of Linux, Relational & NoSQL databases, and serverless architecture is required.
Applicants should understand the tradeoffs between different architecture choices and database technologies.
Experience with various AWS services such as Lambda, S3, and Cloudwatch is necessary.
Candidates should have experience building n-tier applications capable of supporting millions of transactions per day.
A history of shipping multiple high-impact use cases in customer-facing products is essential.
Understanding scaling and performance in a microservice architecture is required.
Experience with version control systems like Git is necessary.
Candidates should have good working knowledge of observability and monitoring tools like New Relic.
