The position is for a Senior Software Engineer based in Canada and is a full-time remote role.
The Senior Software Engineer will lead backend development initiatives while also contributing to frontend projects.
The main focus will be on building and maintaining secure and scalable systems, emphasizing privacy features like email and phone number masking.
Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, driving best practices in software development, and participating in code reviews to ensure system quality and reliability.
The role involves engaging in regular security and privacy reviews to ensure data protection compliance and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Accountabilities include leading backend development using Python, Django, and REST framework, designing systems for email and phone number masking, managing production environments with the SRE team, contributing to frontend development, and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on backend technologies.
In-depth experience with Python, Django, and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP is required, particularly in deploying and operating applications.
Strong knowledge of DevOps practices and collaboration with SRE teams is essential.
Experience with monitoring and data analysis tools such as Grafana, Sentry, and BigQuery is necessary.
Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js for full-stack development is required.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams to achieve common goals are essential.
Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence in coding and testing practices is required.
Bonus points for experience with REST APIs, Twilio, AWS services, and GCP tools such as Kubernetes and BigQuery.
