Description:

The Senior Software Engineer will work with a team to build cloud applications using the latest technologies that scientists rely on daily to draw meaningful conclusions and biological insights quickly.
Responsibilities include collaborating with Product Managers, UX Designers/Researchers, Application Scientists, and other Engineers to design, build, and maintain user-facing web applications for SciTech products.
The role involves working on multiple CZI products, such as the CryoET Data Portal, CZ CELLxGENE, and Virtual Cells, to accelerate science and advance human health.
The Senior Software Engineer will solve challenging scientific software problems, lead backend engineering design and development, build scalable software systems, and promote engineering excellence through technical leadership and mentorship.

Requirements:

6+ years of experience in full-stack software development focusing on building back-ends for web applications using modern technology stack (Python, Docker, REST, SQL/NOSQL).
Experience with APIs (e.g., GraphQL, REST), databases, build/deployment pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions), and front-end technologies like React.
Internal drive for continuous learning and teaching others.
Nice-to-haves: experience with microservices architecture and building AI-enabled applications.
