UpDoc is building the world's first clinically validated, physician-supervised conversational agent that manages chronic diseases.

The position is for a Senior Software Engineer focused on backend services and is fully remote.
The engineer will develop and maintain high-quality backend systems in Python.
Responsibilities include collaborating with frontend, product, and engineering teams to define backend functionality.
The role involves designing internal and external APIs, maintaining integrations with third-party healthcare services, and participating in DevOps, CI/CD, and observability tasks.
The engineer will also engage in code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and collaborate with clinical experts to ensure service accuracy and reliability.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
Proficiency in type-hinted, modern Python is required.
The ability to deliver reliable and maintainable systems in a fast-paced environment is essential.
Knowledge of backend software engineering fundamentals, including networking basics, HTTP, caching, database design, and RPC, is necessary.
Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure, as well as DevOps/IaC practices and containerization is required.
Candidates should have experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
Extensive experience with software testing methodologies and practices is needed.
The ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in production environments is essential.
Candidates must demonstrate continuous learning, independence, and effective communication skills.
Experience in owning projects end-to-end is required.
