PeakMetrics is seeking a Senior Staff Data Ops Engineer to lead the design, execution, and evolution of data infrastructure and DevOps strategies.
The role involves creating and collaborating with Data/Product/Engineering teams to implement a cohesive vision for scalable, secure, and efficient systems.
Responsibilities include developing and executing the long-term vision for data engineering and DevOps strategies, collaborating with senior leadership to prioritize initiatives, and staying ahead of industry trends.
The candidate will build, mentor, and lead a diverse team of data engineers and DevOps professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
The position requires overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines, warehouses, and processing frameworks.
The engineer will build infrastructure for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading using SQL and AWS technologies.
The role includes driving best practices in data governance, quality, and security, ensuring the availability and performance of data systems.
The candidate will lead the adoption of modern DevOps methodologies and ensure robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems are in place.
The engineer will partner with cross-functional teams to understand and deliver on business needs and present project updates to leadership.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 13+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 5+ years in data engineering, data ops, or related roles.
Proven experience in designing and implementing data architectures, ETL processes, and DevOps pipelines is required.
Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native solutions is essential.
A strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is necessary.
Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Bash) is required.
Experience with modern DevOps tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Jenkins is needed.
A track record of successfully managing and scaling high-performing technical teams is essential.
Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Kafka) and ML/AI infrastructure is preferred.
Hands-on experience with both relational and non-relational databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) is required.
Certifications in cloud platforms or DevOps practices are a plus.
Candidates should have experience maintaining data management systems and building new data pipelines from scratch.
Strong database architecture design and management knowledge in both structured and unstructured data is necessary.
Advanced knowledge of Elasticsearch or OpenSearch is required.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities are essential.
Candidates must have a strong analytical mindset with a solution-oriented approach and the ability to balance strategic vision with tactical execution.
