Description:

  • Play a pivotal role in advancing the mission to decarbonize shipping by developing key structural components and systems for onboard carbon capture equipment.
  • Lead the design and sizing of structural parts and assemblies using CAD software and hand calculations to ensure optimal performance and durability.
  • Conduct analytical calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs and ensure compliance with system requirements.
  • Coordinate and execute hardware test campaigns, including test design, integration, operation, and data analysis to inform design iterations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive engineering excellence and contribute to the growth of the engineering culture.
  • Contribute to the iterative development process of an early-stage startup, addressing challenges and embracing opportunities for innovation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field with 3-6 years of experience in a structural engineering role.
  • Strong expertise in engineering fundamentals such as physics, statics, mechanics of materials, and dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience in building and testing real-world structural components.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with commercially available FEA programs for structural analysis and simulation.
  • Resourcefulness, ambition, and a commitment to tackling complex problems with high standards of excellence.
  • Passion for addressing climate change and decarbonizing the shipping industry.
