Description:
Play a pivotal role in advancing the mission to decarbonize shipping by developing key structural components and systems for onboard carbon capture equipment.
Lead the design and sizing of structural parts and assemblies using CAD software and hand calculations to ensure optimal performance and durability.
Conduct analytical calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs and ensure compliance with system requirements.
Coordinate and execute hardware test campaigns, including test design, integration, operation, and data analysis to inform design iterations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive engineering excellence and contribute to the growth of the engineering culture.
Contribute to the iterative development process of an early-stage startup, addressing challenges and embracing opportunities for innovation.
Requirements:
Degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field with 3-6 years of experience in a structural engineering role.
Strong expertise in engineering fundamentals such as physics, statics, mechanics of materials, and dynamics.
Hands-on experience in building and testing real-world structural components.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Familiarity with commercially available FEA programs for structural analysis and simulation.
Resourcefulness, ambition, and a commitment to tackling complex problems with high standards of excellence.
