Remote Senior System Engineer

Description:

• SkyCell is seeking a Senior System Engineer to help advance their mission of transporting temperature-sensitive medicines reliably and sustainably.
• The role involves evaluating, designing, rolling out, and managing Azure-based infrastructure and applications, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and cost-efficient.
• Responsibilities include developing and maintaining configurations for Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams.
• The engineer will collaborate with DevOps engineers and other technical stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure seamless application integration and deployment.
• Compliance with industry standards and regulations like GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO/IEC 27001 is essential.
• The position requires designing and implementing security measures to protect computer systems and network infrastructure.
• The engineer will utilize Azure Security Center and other tools to detect, investigate, and respond to security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive backup/restore strategies to ensure data integrity and availability is a key responsibility.
• Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high levels of systems and infrastructure availability are required.
• The engineer will lead responses to critical incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
• Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures is necessary.
• The role includes providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, as well as tier-3 support for complex problems.
• Generating reports on system performance, security incidents, and usage metrics is part of the job.
• The engineer will communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to the team leader or manager and contribute to strategic planning for IT infrastructure.

Requirements:

• A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
• Candidates must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in system engineering or related roles, with a significant focus on Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services.
• A strong understanding of Microsoft 365 security and compliance features is necessary.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration is required.
• In-depth knowledge of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption, is essential.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure are required.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are necessary.
• A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods is expected.
• Proficiency in English is required.
