Remote Senior Systems Engineer

Description:

• The Senior Systems Engineer position at Bird involves working on the Pusher team to maintain and scale the Pusher service used by thousands of customers daily.
• Responsibilities include bringing new ideas to optimize and scale Pusher, working autonomously to ensure a reliable and scalable product, providing customer support, and collaborating with other engineers to solve system design and implementation problems.
• The role requires proactive, self-motivated individuals with a strong product mindset and experience in high-traffic applications, microservices, and cloud-based systems.
• The successful candidate will work in a high-paced, hyper-growth environment and contribute to the team's knowledge level by teaching and mentoring others.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of relevant software development experience.
• Strong experience with infrastructure and operations in AWS, Redis, Ruby, Terraform, and dealing with high-traffic applications.
• Experience with microservices, highly distributed cloud-based systems, and cloud infrastructure principles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Additional experience with Golang, Kafka, Vault, and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Ability to teach others, mentor, and help peers grow.
