Description:

  • The Senior Systems Engineer at DomainTools will be responsible for building and operating Linux-based systems in public cloud and colocation environments.
  • They will manage the lifecycle of open-source and custom services, including authentication, logging, metrics, code repos, and secrets management.
  • The engineer will modernize infrastructure by migrating older applications into containers or deploying new automation to VMs or bare-metal hosts.
  • Improving the speed and safety of value delivery through automation and self-serve tools for internal customers is a key responsibility.
  • Enhancing operational awareness through system monitoring, metrics, instrumentation, and log analysis is crucial.
  • The role involves reducing business risk by implementing security and business continuity compliance requirements and managing databases and data flows.
  • Mentoring other engineers, writing operational documentation, and participating in an on-call rotation are also part of the job.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Linux systems engineering roles supporting bare metal servers, virtualization, and container platforms.
  • Experience in building and managing infrastructure in public cloud and physical data center environments using infrastructure as code tools.
  • Proficiency in migrating custom Linux-based services into containers and automating tasks using various tools.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, storage technologies, and supporting customer-facing SaaS products.
  • Ability to prioritize improvements, communicate effectively, and maintain high team standards for operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies, relational databases, and relevant technologies like CentOS, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and MySQL.
