Description:

  • The Senior Unix Systems Administrator will report to the Systems Manager and be responsible for documentation, deployment, and troubleshooting of the complete IT Unix environment, including AIX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server.
  • Core competencies include Linux and AIX operating systems, x86 hypervisors, scripting-automation, x86 hardware solutions, IBM P series hardware, Ansible, patching, and security hardening.
  • The role involves working with a team of Unix engineers and acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the Experian Unix Environment.
  • Responsibilities include handling BAU OS support tickets, incidents, vulnerability remediation, and compute and storage changes while following the change management process.
  • The position requires liaising with other teams within the department for expert advice in servers, high availability, security, virtualization, and operating systems technology.
  • The candidate will lead and participate in the design, development, and implementation of complex system engineering activities involving cross-functional technical support, systems programming, and data center capabilities.
  • The role includes responsibility for multiple complex projects and providing and communicating complex technology solutions to various audiences.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Information Technology and/or technology certifications are preferred, or substantial equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of systems engineering experience is necessary.
  • Senior-level experience with Redhat Linux OS and SUSE Linux is required.
  • Knowledge of SAN-based disk solutions and their configurations is essential.
  • Advanced shell scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation skills with Ansible and Terraform are required.
  • Familiarity with tools like BladeLogic, DNT, ESM, and vSphere client is a significant plus.
  • Experience with IBM AIX OS is beneficial, along with familiarity with pSeries AIX server models and HMC Consoles.
  • Knowledge of AIX, VIO, microcode, and firmware upgrades is necessary.
  • The candidate should have knowledge of AWS and provide Operating System technical and break-fix level support.
  • Experience in RedHat Linux administration on RHEL6, RHEL7, RHEL8, RedHat Clustering, VMware, and ESX is required.
  • Strong customer and communication skills are necessary to work with team members, customers, vendors, and the leadership team.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a constantly changing environment is essential.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently but also in team partnership.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills are required.
  • A flexible schedule is necessary, with 24-hour on-call pager and weekend overnight work expected.
