Description:
BlackSky, a real-time intelligence company, is seeking a Senior/Staff Satellite Mission Engineer to support satellite development, modeling, and business development efforts.
The role involves working on the design, development, launch, and operation of BlackSky satellites, collaborating with various teams to align engineering baselines with future needs.
Responsibilities include assessing changes to satellite designs, supporting new mission opportunities, tracking technology roadmaps, and performing trade studies.
The ideal candidate will have experience with satellite subsystems, proposal writing, and communication skills.
This position may be based in Herndon, VA, Seattle, WA, or remote in certain states.
Requirements:
Senior level: At least 5 years of technical experience in satellite development, test, or operations; Staff level: At least 10 years of technical experience in satellite development, test, or operations.
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or related discipline.
Strong problem-solving skills, inter-team cooperation, organization skills, and communication abilities.
Knowledge of space regulatory requirements, small satellite design processes, and tools like JAMA, STK, Grafana, Atlassian.
Experience with satellite subsystem modeling, proposal writing, and US citizenship requirement.

Anticipated base salary range for Senior candidates in Seattle, WA: $150,000-175,000 per year; for Staff candidates: $175,000-190,000.
