Remote Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Platform Services

Description:

• BlackSky is a real-time intelligence company that operates a space-based intelligence platform providing satellite imagery, automated analytics, and high-frequency monitoring.
• The Senior/Staff Software Engineer will join the Platform Services team, focusing on writing quality software to meet customer needs.
• Responsibilities include designing and implementing features for imagery ordering, processing, and delivery orchestration services.
• The role involves testing, debugging, documenting software functionality, and providing feedback during design sessions.
• The engineer will analyze designs for scalability and performance, assist with operational tasks, and identify problems with requirements early.

Requirements:

• A minimum of five years of experience as a software engineer developing production software is required.
• Candidates must be fluent in Java and have a strong understanding of Python, with the ability to use other languages as needed.
• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and using REST APIs is necessary.
• Familiarity with common database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL, is required.
• Experience working in a cloud environment such as AWS, GCE, or MS Azure is essential.
• Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
