Description:

  • Udacity is seeking a Session Lead for their Big Data and Hadoop Nanodegree program, which is a remote position based in India.
  • The role involves providing world-class technical support to learners during their Nanodegree journey.
  • Session Leads will meet virtually with students weekly for group work, activities, and short lectures.
  • Students are expected to study approximately 10 hours per week independently, while the Session Lead will respond to technical questions and check in on their progress.
  • Responsibilities include managing weekly Connect sessions, creating session agendas, coordinating between students and the Udacity Connect team, and reporting attendance and observations to Udacity.
  • The Session Lead will facilitate introductions, organize students into groups, explain concepts, solve questions during sessions, and communicate with students via Slack.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience is required.
  • Intermediate skills in Python and SQL are necessary, including knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Familiarity with Big Data and Hadoop, specifically HDFS and MapReduce, is essential.
  • Understanding of data streaming concepts, including stream vs. batch processing, is required.
  • A basic understanding of Data Lakes and Data Warehouses is needed.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka is preferred.
  • Graduates from the Machine Learning Nanodegree Program are considered an added advantage.
  • Candidates should have experience teaching technical concepts and public speaking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a group of students are essential.
  • A student-oriented mindset with a focus on understanding and addressing student problems is required.
  • Candidates should demonstrate an innovative approach and proactivity in assisting students.
  • A positive character that fosters trust and emotional connections within the group is important.
  • An existing tech network and experience in technical discussions are beneficial.
  • Flexibility in their current job to take on this part-time, external contractor role is necessary.
