Remote Site Reliability Engineer

Description:

• Spotify is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join the Music Technology Platform engineering organization.
• The role involves helping labels, artists, and managers while fulfilling the mission of supporting creative artists.
• You will work on building a distributed database to create dynamic data visualizations for artists and labels.
• The position requires collaboration with engineers to ensure scalable systems design and to address production issues.
• Responsibilities include designing deployments, operating a large distributed database, and improving system reliability.
• You will assist analytics squads in adopting tools and practices like SLOs, alerting, and observability.
• Participation in an on-call rotation and incident analysis for Music Mission systems is expected.
• The platform will be managed using Terraform and Kubernetes.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
• A background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and database technologies is essential, particularly in cloud-native architectures.
• Familiarity with various database technologies on platforms like GCP, AWS, and Azure is necessary; experience with Druid or another OLAP database is a plus.
• Proficiency in Java is required, along with skills in Kubernetes and Terraform; knowledge of Python, Scala, Go, or TypeScript is beneficial.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to listen empathetically to partners are important.
• A deep curiosity and enjoyment in exploring technical and organizational challenges are essential traits.
• A willingness to learn new technologies and expand expertise is expected.
