Description:

Pythian is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to work remotely in the UK, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, or Spain.
The role focuses on ensuring the reliability and performance of services and systems by emphasizing scalability, latency, performance, availability, efficiency, and observability.
Responsibilities include developing systems, automating processes, enhancing system reliability, and mentoring junior team members.
The engineer will use relevant development languages and tools to build software applications and ensure data security, integrity, and quality.
The position involves designing solutions for current business needs while accommodating future enhancements and guiding teams to ensure systems are reusable and interoperable.
The engineer will collaborate with development teams to implement observability metrics and spearhead incident response for issues impacting their track.
The role requires leveraging new technologies and automation to reduce operational costs and eliminate technical debt while planning for future growth.

Requirements:

Candidates must have demonstrated experience in Object Oriented Programming with Python or Go.
Familiarity with tools such as Terraform, AWS, Docker, Vault, ProxySQL, and Gitlab is required.
Skills in automation, Infrastructure as Code, Python scripting, Bash shell scripting, and Unix system administration are necessary.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in an SRE role, including at least two years of verifiable experience with Terraform on AWS in a production environment, is essential.
Intermediate-level experience with MySQL or other relational database systems is required.
Candidates should possess logical and analytical thinking skills for problem-solving and the ability to identify patterns in complex situations.
Strong skills in process improvement and delivering clear, structured information to various audiences are necessary.
The ability to achieve mutually agreeable solutions through adaptability and effective communication is also required.
