Description:

  • BlaBlaCar is the world’s leading community-based travel app, enabling 27 million members a year to carpool or travel by bus in 21 countries.
  • The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will work in the Foundations department, which consists of seven teams focused on providing consistent and easy-to-use infrastructures, services, and expertise to support BlaBlaCar’s growth.
  • The SRE team is responsible for providing best-in-class observability, alerting, and incident management tools and processes to service teams.
  • Responsibilities include supporting software engineers by creating, maintaining, and improving observability and alerting tools, assisting in the design and maintenance of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs), owning the incident management process, developing and maintaining automation tools, and providing reporting on operational metrics and incidents.
  • The technical stack includes Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, GitHub, Terraform, Flux, Helm, Jenkins, Datadog, Opentelemetry, PagerDuty, and Go for tooling.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills are required to work in a multidisciplinary environment and adapt communication levels to other teams' expertise.
  • Basic knowledge of observability tools such as Datadog and an understanding of metrics, logging, and tracing are necessary.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and on-call duties in production environments, with a preference for experience with GKE or Kubernetes.
  • Full working proficiency in English is required.

  • The ability to take ownership aligned with business priorities is essential.
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with incident management platforms like PagerDuty, experience with SLOs and SLIs, exposure to programming in Go, and familiarity with object-oriented programming and scripting languages.
