Description:
Vercel is seeking experienced Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to expand their small team into a global footprint for expert engagement across core serving systems.
As an early member of the SRE team, you will report directly to the Director of Managed Infrastructure and play a foundational role in expanding the SRE practice.
The role focuses on enhancing Compute infrastructure in close partnership with the EU-based developer team.
Responsibilities include ensuring products are built for reliability and scale through end-to-end design, development, and deployment of new software.
You will drive continuous risk mitigation and reduction through involvement in incident management, blameless postmortems, and follow-ups.
The position requires driving measurable improvements to the reliability, performance, and efficiency of production systems through instrumentation, analysis, and engineering improvements.
You will devise repeatable, low-toil operational practices by developing automated systems for software delivery, system failover, and capacity management.
Requirements:
Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in an SRE role or at least 5 years in an adjacent role, such as platform engineering, in a scaled environment.
A firm grasp of the SRE philosophy and mindset is required, along with practical experience working with SRE teams engaged in system design and improvement.
A strong sense of accountability and commitment to problem-solving is essential, supported by a curiosity to identify root causes.
Willingness to proactively engage with development teams to influence software design and operational practices is necessary.
Candidates should have the capability to manage risk, make decisions, and exhibit sound judgment.
Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver long-term projects is required.
Experience with distributed system design, Containers, Virtual Machines, and Linux is essential.
Bonus points for experience with Terraform and/or Golang.
Benefits:
The position offers a great compensation package and stock options.
An inclusive healthcare package is provided.
Opportunities for learning and growth are available, including mentorship and attendance at events to build your network and skills.
A flexible vacation policy is in place, recommending 4 weeks per year, along with paid holidays.
The role is remote-friendly, allowing collaboration with teammates from different time zones globally.
Vercel will provide the necessary gear for your role and a work-from-home budget to outfit your space as needed.
