Description:

  • Hopper is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Platform Infrastructure team, which builds and operates the cloud foundation for products used by millions of travelers worldwide.
  • The mission of the team is to empower engineers across Hopper to ship fast, stay resilient, and scale effortlessly.
  • The role involves evolving a large-scale, multi-region infrastructure running in Google Cloud, supporting hundreds of engineers and dozens of product teams.
  • Responsibilities include building automated, self-service platform tools that ensure the foundation is secure, reliable, cost-efficient, and easy to use.
  • Daily tasks will involve improving platform tooling, designing infrastructure workflows, driving automation, adapting infrastructure offerings, participating in incident response, supporting engineering teams, and collaborating with a high-impact team of SREs.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should have professional experience in SRE, DevOps, Software Engineering, or Systems Engineering, with a passion for building reliable, scalable infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident response skills across distributed systems and cloud-native environments are required.
  • Candidates must possess solid system design and analytical thinking skills, focusing on simplicity, performance, and maintainability.
  • Clear and effective communication skills are essential for collaboration across engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP), is necessary.
  • Deep familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, preferably using Terraform, is required.
  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes, and tools like Helm or Kustomize, is essential.
  • A solid understanding of networking fundamentals and knowledge of cloud and infrastructure security best practices is required.
  • Familiarity with observability stacks, CI/CD pipelines, and database technologies (both SQL and NoSQL) is necessary.
  • Candidates should be comfortable writing scripts in Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages to automate routine tasks.
