Description:

The Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer will join the Information Systems (IS) team, responsible for maintaining Canonical’s IT production services used by over 60 million Ubuntu users.
This role focuses on driving operations automation in both private and public clouds using open source infrastructure as code software and CI/CD practices.
Responsibilities include defining infrastructure as code, improving Canonical products, providing feedback to developers, and collaborating with other teams.
The position allows for remote work in any timezone and offers opportunities for professional development and collaboration within a global team.
Requirements:
Candidates must have deep experience in defining operations in code, utilizing version control, peer review, and CI/CD for application and infrastructure changes.
A strong modern engineering background is required, including peer-review, unit testing, SCM, CI/CD, and Agile methodologies.
Proficiency in Python software development, particularly with large projects, is essential.
Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls is necessary.
Familiarity with various forms of Linux storage, such as Ceph and databases, is required.
Hands-on experience in administering enterprise Linux servers is expected.
Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies is a must.
A Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related engineering field is preferred.
Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in English across various platforms.
A motivated individual who can troubleshoot from kernel to web and is willing to learn and adapt quickly is desired.
Passion for open-source technologies, especially Ubuntu or Debian, is important.
