Description:
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, particularly known for its platform, Ubuntu.
The company is hiring a software architect for Canonical LXD and MicroCloud to enhance cloud computing technologies.
The role involves making clusters of compute with system containers or virtual machines easy to set up and reliable.
LXD is a modern Golang system container and virtual machine orchestrator used on various Linux platforms.
The software architect will drive the architecture, design, and evolution of LXD and Canonical MicroCloud.
Responsibilities include leading the architecture, mentoring colleagues, developing in Golang and C, reviewing code, ensuring product security and performance, and displaying technical leadership.
This is a home-based position available in EMEA and the Americas, with global travel twice annually for company events.
Requirements:
An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university is required.
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a STEM field is necessary.
Candidates should demonstrate drive and a history of exceeding expectations.
Technical leadership skills and the ability to motivate and direct a team are essential.
Candidates must be well-organized, self-starting, and able to meet deadlines.
A professional manner in interactions with colleagues, partners, and the community is expected.
Experience with Go and C programming languages is required.
Knowledge of storage, networking, virtualization, and container technologies is necessary.
Experience with concurrent and distributed systems is essential.
Attention to detail and a focus on performance are important.
Professional written and spoken English skills are required.
Experience with Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu, is necessary.
Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability are essential traits.
