Veracross is seeking a Software Architect and Team Lead with expertise in PHP, the Laravel framework, and MySQL to join their Software Engineering team in the UK.
The role involves designing, architecting, and implementing a green field web application as part of a major modernization initiative.
The successful candidate will lead a small team of software engineers, mentoring them in design and development while ensuring consistency in coding practices.
Responsibilities include collaborating with the team to align solutions with business direction, breaking down tasks, estimating, and setting delivery expectations.
The position requires advising on technologies and planning solutions to address technology challenges, focusing on benefits realization and value.
The role also involves supporting a continuous delivery environment, working with DevOps Engineers, and utilizing AWS services.
Key responsibilities include architecting and developing scalable web and API applications, leading code reviews, ensuring application security, managing and mentoring the team, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Requirements:

Candidates must have extensive experience in PHP and Laravel, with a minimum of 5 years in the field.
Proven experience in system architecture is required, ensuring system scalability and performance.
Experience with RESTful APIs, including designing, integrating, and securing APIs for scalable web applications, is essential.
Team leadership experience is necessary, including managing developers and fostering a collaborative environment.
Candidates should have experience with CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions, automated testing, deployment to AWS, and integration processes using Docker.
Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and coding design patterns is required.
Proficiency with database technologies, including relational databases like MariaDB and ORM frameworks such as Eloquent, is necessary.
Familiarity with JavaScript front-end technologies such as Vue.js and Inertia is preferred.
Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
