Description:
The Software Developer will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by developing and maintaining software applications for a public health association that specifically serves local, tribal, and territorial populations.
This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at helping public health agencies improve their information systems.
The position involves providing advanced GIS analytical support to the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) for emergency response and recovery activities.
The candidate will develop and implement project plans to enhance internal departmental data connectivity and automation, enriching the RIDOH GIS Data catalogue.
Responsibilities include meeting with RIDOH programs to discuss data management, handling time-sensitive data, performing geospatial data management and analysis, and maintaining GIS data integrity.
The Software Developer will work with sensitive datasets, including Medicaid and PII/PHI/HIPAA variables.
The position is remote, but candidates must be based in the United States, with a work schedule of 8:00 am β 5:00 pm EST, Monday to Friday.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2025.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience with GIS/Geocoding and ArcGIS is required.
Knowledge of SQL for querying spatial and non-spatial data is necessary.
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software platforms and applications, including ArcPRO, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise, is preferred.
Familiarity with AGOL applications and content development is required.
Experience in database management and best practices in GIS related to health data is essential.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Ruby, Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript as applied to GIS workflows is needed.
Knowledge of engineering best practices, including source control, automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment, is required.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical partners effectively.
Experience working on cross-functional teams in a user-focused environment is required.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities is necessary.
Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and in teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, plus benefits, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
