The Private Cloud (PVC) Engineering team at Rackspace Technology is seeking talented full stack developers who are passionate about modern web development standards.
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will use initiative and standard programming practices to ensure the stability and security of Rackspace’s automated solutions.
You will provide a high level of technical support through the ownership of complex automations that enable Rackspace to better serve internal and external customers.
The role involves applying creative problem-solving techniques to identify the source of problems while keeping customers informed throughout the process.
You will be responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedures, as well as any other relevant policies and standards as directed.
The position requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in your job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
You will solve complex problems independently with minimal guidance and may lead projects or project steps within a broader project.
The role includes mentoring junior level and fellow developers.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technology field is required.
At the manager’s discretion, additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of technical engineering and automation experience is required.
You must have at least 3+ years of automation engineering experience with server deployment, diagnostics, and remediations.
Solid software engineering fundamentals gained through training, coursework, or relevant experience are necessary.
Strong knowledge of network fundamentals, including diagnostics with OS system tools, is required.
You should have strong knowledge of server DNS, SMTP, and TCP/IP.
Proficiency in Docker and its use in a production environment is essential.
Strong development competency in Linux, specifically Python and JavaScript, is required.
Knowledge of Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Travis, etc.) is necessary.
Familiarity with project management and Agile methodologies is important.
A strong understanding of services and protocols commonly used in hosting environments is required.
Knowledge of best practices and how your area integrates with others is essential.
Preferred but not mandatory certifications include RHCE for Linux specialization.
