Remote Software Developer IV (Python with Windows Automation)

Description:

• The Private Cloud (PVC) Engineering team at Rackspace Technology is seeking talented full stack developers who are passionate about modern web development standards.
• As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will use initiative and standard programming practices to ensure the stability and security of Rackspace’s automated solutions.
• You will provide a high level of technical support through the ownership of complex automations that enable Rackspace to better serve internal and external customers.
• The role involves applying creative problem-solving techniques to identify the source of problems while keeping customers informed throughout the process.
• You will be responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedures, as well as any other relevant policies and standards as directed.
• The position requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in your job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
• You will solve complex problems independently with minimal guidance and may lead projects or project steps within a broader project.
• The role includes efficiently implementing or leading the implementation of complex solutions with minimal technical debt.
• You will act as a mentor for junior developers and be a thought leader across the team, presenting ideas and innovations to minimize technical debts.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technology field is required.
• At the manager’s discretion, additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
• A minimum of 7 to 10 years of technical engineering and automation experience is required.
• You must have at least 5+ years of automation engineering experience with server deployment, diagnostics, and remediations.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals gained through training, coursework, or relevant experience are necessary.
• Proven capability of administering Server Operating Systems within a Managed Services environment, specifically Microsoft Windows based Server Technologies.
• A demonstrable understanding of services and protocols commonly used in hosted environments, including web servers, database servers, mail servers, and name servers.
• Strong development competency in PowerShell and Python is required.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with software development tools and practices such as Docker, various version control systems (GitHub, Git), API services, Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Travis), and Agile methodologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical, are essential.
