Mapbox is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join their team focused on developing 3D Live Navigation, an advanced navigation system that enhances traditional maps with high-resolution 3D lane models and real-time sensor data.
The role involves creating a detailed and immersive 3D navigation experience by integrating feedback from millions of vehicles and aerial imagery.
Responsibilities include developing real-time visualization of ADAS sensor data, implementing simulation tools for testing driving scenarios, and writing clean, fast code for automotive navigation systems.
The engineer will own full stack development from data to navigation experience across various platforms and stacks, fine-tune the navigation experience, and collaborate with technical counterparts and internal teams.
The position requires solving technical challenges within existing technological and business constraints while improving product performance, stability, maintainability, and simplicity.

Requirements:

Candidates must have broad experience in software development, customer engagements, and automotive compliance standards, with a strong focus on performance aspects.
Proficiency in rendering and a solid foundation in algorithms is required.
Knowledge of HD mapping domain (lane level geometry, road topology, map data formats) and ADAS features (ACC, LKA) is essential, along with skills in sensor fusion and filtering techniques.
Strong technical expertise in C++, Kotlin, Shell Script, JavaScript, and Python is necessary, along with experience in build systems like CMake and Gradle.
Candidates should be skilled in developing frameworks and developer tools and committed to earning and maintaining customer trust.
Excellent communication skills are required, with the ability to work effectively with distributed teams, customers, and partners. Fluency in English is mandatory.
