Description:
HackerRank is seeking a Software Development Engineer II - Backend for a full-time remote position within the United States.
The role involves evaluating technologies, developing proofs of concept, solving technical challenges, and proposing innovative solutions for technical and business problems.
Responsibilities include building high-quality, well-tested, scalable, and reliable business applications to delight stakeholders, customers, and partners.
The engineer will architect and develop applications and microservices using REST APIs, serverless technologies, lambda, NodeJS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and automation.
The position requires delivering high-quality product experiences in a quality-conscious manner and on a regular and predictable schedule.
The engineer will design and implement REST APIs, work in an agile development environment, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with remote development and cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
Candidates must be strong and self-motivated individuals who can drive decisions independently.
A minimum of 2+ years of experience in building web-based products is required.
Expertise in at least one dynamic programming language and one MVC web framework, preferably Ruby on Rails or NodeJS, is necessary.
Candidates should have expertise in database modeling, preferably relational databases, and the ability to spot database bottlenecks and write optimized queries.
Familiarity with common cloud technologies, preferably AWS, and knowledge of CI/CD tools and workflows is essential.
A proven track record in building highly-available and scalable distributed systems is required.
Candidates should be willing to explore new technologies and act as a Subject Matter Expert.
A passion for small incremental improvements and refactoring is important.
A keen eye for quality, good coding practices, and improving code coverage is necessary.
Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with internal and external stakeholders are required.
