The Cloud Platform team ensures seamless Continuous Integration and Delivery and reliable API Infrastructure, supported by AWS operations expertise.
The team supports over 300 Mapbox Engineers across various countries, including North America, UK, Germany, Finland, Japan, Poland, and Minsk.
The team is distributed across the US, Canada, and Finland, working remotely and asynchronously.
The Cloud Platform is divided into two sub-teams: API Infrastructure and Orchestration, each with distinct responsibilities and tech stacks.
The API Infrastructure team focuses on AWS best practices and tools for secure service deployment.
The Orchestration team manages the build, deployment, and management processes across Mapbox.
The role of Software Development Engineer III (SDEIII) involves building internal developer tools and services to enhance the Mapbox Platform.
Responsibilities include leading AWS environment migration, supporting engineers with scalable infrastructure, influencing Cloud Platform strategy, and maintaining observability platforms.
The role promotes operational excellence through testing, monitoring, and on-call support, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.

Requirements:

Candidates must be located in the US/Canada Eastern Time Zone.
A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant industry engineering experience is required.
Experience with large-scale, complex AWS multi-account architecture is essential.
A passion for developing internal tools and infrastructure for Mapbox Engineers is necessary.
Proven ability to design and develop secure and efficient infrastructure on AWS is required.
Familiarity with the tech stack, including NodeJS, TypeScript, Terraform, and various AWS services, is needed.
A track record of building secure, self-service tools for developers with a customer-driven mindset is important.
Candidates should have a desire to share expertise through documentation and mentorship.
A commitment to working with diverse backgrounds and perspectives is essential.
Autonomy and proactivity in driving work to completion in ambiguous situations are required.

The annual base compensation for this role ranges from $183,175 to $247,825, with potential increases for higher cost of labor locations.
Compensation will be determined based on qualifications, market demands, and specific work location.
