Description:
The Software Engineer will support Air Force Platform One and Air Mobility Command in maintaining high uptime for their chat operations.
This position requires working outside of regular business hours due to the 24x7x365 readiness requirement.
The Software Engineer will analyze coding problems and develop improvements to procedures while exercising independent judgment.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, troubleshooting, debugging, and implementing software.
The role involves assisting the 24x7x365 team in ensuring that Mattermost is operational at all times.
The engineer will work on innovative R&D tasks when there are no active support requests.
The position requires planning and leading major technology assignments and evaluating performance results to recommend changes affecting project growth and success.
The engineer will function as a technical expert across the team and tasks, creating and maintaining documentation for implementations.
The role includes executing the full software development life-cycle (SDLC) and developing flowcharts, layouts, and documentation to identify requirements and solutions.
Responsibilities also include writing well-designed, testable code, producing specifications, integrating software components, developing software verification plans, and troubleshooting existing systems.
The engineer will deploy programs, evaluate user feedback, comply with project plans and industry standards, and ensure software is updated with the latest features.
Requirements:
Strong experience in several modern programming languages such as Javascript, Go, and HTML, with expertise in designing, developing, troubleshooting, debugging, and implementing high-quality code.
Experience in a wide variety of computing environments, including cloud and containerized solutions.
A security-first and test-first approach to test-driven development is essential.
Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following technologies: Go, React, and Docker.
Preferred experience includes Gitlab, AWS, Kubernetes, and SQL (Postgres or MySQL).
The ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance is required.
