Description:
The Software Engineer will develop and maintain software applications for a public health association serving local, tribal, and territorial populations.
This role is part of the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at improving public health agencies' information systems.
The position involves migrating existing WordPress websites to Umbraco, ensuring secure data collection, improved site analytics, and an optimized user experience.
Responsibilities include custom site development, integration of analytics dashboards, and ensuring data security for grant reporting.
The candidate will work with programming languages and tools such as C#.NET, Bootstrap, SQL, Umbraco, JQuery, REST APIs, GitHub, Visual Studio, and Azure Data Studio.
The Software Engineer will be hired by the CDC Foundation and assigned to The Marion County Public Health Department, Application Development Team.
This position is fully remote for U.S.-based candidates and is grant funded with a limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2025.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is necessary.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Ruby, Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript is required.
Experience with software development frameworks and libraries, including React, Angular, or Node.js, is essential.
Strong web development skills and experience with relational databases and Unix-like operating systems are required.
Knowledge of database management systems like SQL or MongoDB and version control tools such as Git is necessary.
Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and deploying software applications is required.
Familiarity with engineering best practices, including source control, automated testing, and continuous integration, is essential.
Experience with agile development methodologies and software design patterns is required.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
The ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical partners effectively is required.
Experience working on cross-functional teams and in a virtual environment is essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $103,500-$143,500 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
