Description:

The Software Engineer will be responsible for delivering innovative solutions and services while constantly improving Firstup’s approach to architecture, scale, availability, and fault-tolerance.
This role will partner with others across the company in shared codebases and contribute directly to other services when needed.
Responsibilities include utilizing real-world knowledge to build scalable SaaS applications, writing high-quality code, providing quality code reviews, creating comprehensive tests, and maintaining quality documentation.
The engineer will apply broad, in-depth knowledge to develop and maintain large-scale multi-tenant services in the cloud.
Collaboration across teams on industry standards and best practices is essential to help others solve complex problems.
The role involves designing future-ready solutions, addressing architectural gaps, and advocating for better performance and efficiency of software, systems, and processes across teams.
Identifying, analyzing, and resolving system availability, reliability, and performance issues is a key responsibility.
The engineer will encourage and promote ideas and opinions from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field of study, or commensurate experience is required.
A minimum of 3 years of experience building reliable and performant microservices is necessary.
Candidates should be identified as a polyglot who is comfortable evolving as technology changes, with experience in Ruby, SQL, TypeScript, or JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Node.js, React.js).
Proven experience in developing on the front-end, back-end, and database is required.
Technical depth and proficiency in at least one software engineering topic (networking, security, serverless, event streams, etc.) is essential.
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm is preferred.
Experience with AWS is preferred.
Experience with machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) is preferred.
Experience working for an enterprise SaaS organization is preferred.
Open-source contributions and a history of side projects are preferred.
