Description:
As a Software Engineer specializing in accessibility, you will be responsible for building products that assist organizations in training their employees and addressing their key people-related challenges at scale.
You will collaborate with product, design, data, and content teams to develop a modern learning platform with a focus on performance, scalability, and accessibility.
Your role will involve shipping code regularly, participating in the product development process, advocating for accessibility, and ensuring users derive maximum value from the products.
You will primarily work with frontend technologies like React and JavaScript, while also being open to full-stack work as required.
Additionally, you will architect systems to handle significant user scale, emphasize performance, security, and privacy, and share knowledge with the team through code reviews, presentations, and articles.
Requirements:
5+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong emphasis on frontend development.
Proficiency in React, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with a solid understanding of modern frontend architectures and state management.
In-depth knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices, including WCAG guidelines.
Experience with accessibility testing tools and techniques such as screen readers, color contrast analyzers, and keyboard navigation testing.
Demonstrated experience in implementing accessible design and development practices to ensure usability by individuals with diverse abilities.
Proven track record of working with accessibility vendors and integrating accessibility features into existing systems.
Familiarity with version control systems like Git and collaborative development workflows is a plus.
Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
Excellent written communication skills are essential for effective collaboration within the team.
