Description:

Pathway is seeking 1 or 2 R&D Engineers with expertise in designing efficient data storage systems and algorithms.
The role involves creating code to optimize index-like data structures for core data processing and storage components.
Candidates will help design algorithms and data structures that operate in a dynamic distributed manner.
Contributions will also extend to other system aspects, such as persistency.
The position is ideal for those who enjoy working with Rust and have a passion for distributed systems.

Requirements:

Candidates must meet at least 2 of the following 6 criteria:
- Achieved mostly A-grades in a Computer Science Bachelor/Master program covering Algorithms, Formal Methods, Graph Theory, Calculus, Probability, and Distributed Systems.
- Worked for at least 6 months at a FAANG company (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google).
- Successfully exited from a start-up.
- Competed as an ICPC World Finalist or in a top-10 team regionally.
- Earned a medal in IOI, IMO, or IPhO during High School.
- Finished in the top-10 in a major Kaggle contest.
Candidates should be ready for hands-on contributions and have a good working knowledge of Rust and Python.
Familiarity with multi-threaded and distributed systems, graph algorithms, SQL, and basic statistical concepts is required.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in software development is necessary.
Basic familiarity with git, build systems, and CI/CD is expected.
Candidates must be respectful of others and fluent in English.

The position offers a permanent employment contract.
The preferable joining date is early 2023, with positions open until filled.
Compensation ranges from €70K to €100K annually, with exceptional cases reaching €100K to €140K+ for unique track records or "L7+" experience in FAANG, plus an Employee Stock Option Plan.
Remote work is available, with the option to meet team members in offices located in Menlo Park (California), Paris (France), or Wroclaw (Poland).
Permanent residence is generally required in the EU, UK, Canada, US, or Brazil.
