Remote Software Engineer (Backend)

• The company is looking for a talented Backend Software Engineer to help grow and scale API services, including transitioning the existing Node.js (Express) platform to TypeScript.
• As a backend-focused developer, the engineer will design, build, and maintain robust backend features, develop API services, implement controller tests, and collaborate closely with frontend and data engineering teams to deliver secure and efficient healthcare technology solutions.
• Key responsibilities include developing scalable backend service components, building and optimizing RESTful APIs, refactoring existing Node.js codebases, writing comprehensive tests, collaborating with frontend engineers, engaging with data engineers, optimizing backend performance, leveraging AWS services, participating in code reviews, and documenting backend architecture and API specifications.

Requirements:

• A B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 3+ years of experience in backend software engineering, or 6+ years of relevant industry experience is required.
• Proven expertise with TypeScript, Node.js, Express, MongoDB (Mongoose), and PostgreSQL is necessary.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, roles & permissions, and audit logging for regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA) is essential.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha is required.
• A strong understanding of software architecture best practices and backend optimization techniques is needed.
• Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams are important.
