The Software Engineer, Backend (CDP API) position is a remote role based in the USA at Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP).
CDP is focused on building developer tools to facilitate onchain development, aiming to simplify the process for developers.
The team is small and operates with a startup mentality, emphasizing a fast pace and strong ownership culture.
The role involves developing and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems for the Platform APIs using Go and Python.
Responsibilities include defining and maintaining HTTP REST API definitions using OpenAPI specifications and developing ergonomic, open-source SDKs in multiple programming languages.
The engineer will author and maintain clear documentation to enhance the adoption of the Platform APIs and SDKs.
The position requires developing secure key management systems and collaborating with various teams to externalize backend services.
The engineer will interface with customers to gather feedback and improve the developer experience, as well as build sample applications to demonstrate the APIs' value.
Troubleshooting and debugging complex fullstack issues, participating in code reviews, and maintaining high code quality standards are also key responsibilities.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in both backend and frontend software development.
Mastery of Go, JavaScript, or Python is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, with a focus on clear developer documentation.
A strong understanding of crypto wallets, key management, cryptography, and blockchain protocols is necessary.
A proven track record of developing and shipping high-quality client-side libraries and SDKs is expected.
Solid knowledge of RESTful API design principles and experience with API development and integration are required.
Familiarity with AWS and containerization technologies like Kubernetes is preferred.
Understanding of security best practices and experience with secure coding practices for financial systems is important.

The target annual salary for this position ranges from $147,000 to $174,000 USD, depending on work location.
