The position is for a Software Engineer, Backend, which can be performed remotely from anywhere in the U.S.
The role reports to the Engineering Manager and offers a compensation of $100k base or more plus a bonus, depending on experience.
The new hire will write software that will be used in production and will have a meaningful impact on FHF.
Responsibilities include becoming a subject matter expert for systems, optimizing codebases, debugging production issues, and identifying performance bottlenecks.
The engineer will give and receive technical feedback, work closely with business stakeholders and a team of engineers, and learn quickly by collaborating with teammates.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 2+ years of industry experience and familiarity with Python, Java, or at least one modern language and/or frameworks.
A strong fundamental understanding of Computer Science is required, ideally through a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and/or MSSQL is necessary.
Candidates should have experience building REST services with Spring Framework and ORM (Hibernate, JPA).
Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem, including creating and debugging serverless (lambda) functions, is a plus.
A solid understanding of system design is essential for designing and developing scalable infrastructure components.
Familiarity with leading JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React is preferred.
Good knowledge of DevOps and collaboration tools like CircleCI, Jenkins, GIT, and Sonarqube is required.
Experience working in small teams in an Agile environment is necessary.
Candidates should be familiar with containers and developing containerized applications using Docker.
The ability to navigate and manage work in new code bases with multiple languages is important.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote/distributed environment are essential.
