Description:
Human Interest is seeking a Software Engineer for Backend Engineering in Portfolio Management, focusing on ensuring access to retirement benefits for all working Americans.
The company aims to make retirement plans affordable and accessible for small and medium-sized businesses.
The Portfolio Management team is responsible for managing participants' current investments (retirement funds) and developing new products and services.
The role involves building and maintaining software for processing and recording customers' retirement savings, improving system processes for robustness and performance, and collaborating with stakeholders.
Responsibilities include writing clean code, developing ownership over critical retirement workflows, making engineering tradeoff decisions, and participating in the development lifecycle activities.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in building and maintaining backend software.
Experience in building scalable backend technologies and scaling database platforms (NoSQL, SQL).
Strong desire to learn, exchange feedback, and grow in technical designs and retirement domains.
Ability to write understandable, testable code with a focus on maintainability.
Proactive and empathetic mindset, willing to solve problems for customers.
Completed formal training in a computer science-related discipline (Bachelors or Masters preferred).
