Remote Software Engineer - Big Data

Description:

• As a Software Engineer - Big Data, you will have full ownership and responsibility for key data platform initiatives and the life cycle of data management.
• Your role will include data ingestion, data processing, data storage, and querying systems, as well as cost reduction efforts to deliver product features to both internal and external Motive customers.
• You will be part of the Data Platform team, which is responsible for driving Motive’s Data Platform vision.
• The team focuses on building scalable systems and services for data ingestion, access, processing, and query to enable data-driven product features.
• You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders and backend product teams to improve and add features to the platform.
• Your tasks will include designing and developing scalable distributed systems and frameworks for data management.
• You will address fault-tolerance and high availability issues, scale ingestion pipelines, and improve the ETL framework while maintaining SLAs on performance, reliability, and system availability.
• Participation in all aspects of the software development life cycle, from design to implementation and delivery, is expected.

Requirements:

• You must have 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in backend programming, including multi-threading and concurrency, with strong skills in Python is required.
• A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems, is essential.
• Experience in designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable software systems and services is necessary.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Airflow, and Kubernetes is required.
• Experience with service-oriented architectures is a must.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proven track record of implementing creative solutions are needed.
• Hands-on experience with containerized platforms like Docker and Kubernetes is required.
• A BS in Computer Science or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, as you will need to collaborate effectively with other teams and communicate clearly about your work.
