Description:

As a Software Engineer - Big Data, you will have full ownership and responsibility for key data platform initiatives and the life cycle of data management.
Your role will include data ingestion, data processing, data storage, and querying systems, as well as cost reduction efforts to deliver product features to both internal and external Motive customers.
You will be part of the Data Platform team, which is responsible for driving Motive’s Data Platform vision.
The team focuses on building scalable systems and services for data ingestion, access, processing, and query to enable data-driven product features.
You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders and backend product teams to improve and add features to the platform.
Your tasks will include designing and developing scalable distributed systems and frameworks for data management.
You will address fault-tolerance and high availability issues, scale ingestion pipelines, and improve the ETL framework while maintaining SLAs on performance, reliability, and system availability.
Participation in all aspects of the software development life cycle, from design to implementation and delivery, is expected.

Requirements:

You must have 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
Proficiency in backend programming, including multi-threading and concurrency, with strong skills in Python is required.
A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems, is essential.
Experience in designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable software systems and services is necessary.
Familiarity with technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Airflow, and Kubernetes is required.
Experience with service-oriented architectures is a must.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proven track record of implementing creative solutions are needed.
Hands-on experience with containerized platforms like Docker and Kubernetes is required.
A BS in Computer Science or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, as you will need to collaborate effectively with other teams and communicate clearly about your work.
