Description:
The Software Engineer will develop and maintain software applications for a public health association serving local, tribal, and territorial populations.
This role is part of the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at improving public health agencies' information systems.
The position is remote but candidates must be based in the United States.
The salary range is $103,500-$143,500 per year, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2026.
Responsibilities include transitioning existing WordPress websites to Umbraco, ensuring secure data collection, improved site analytics, and an optimized user experience.
The Software Engineer will work with programming languages and tools such as C#.NET, Bootstrap, SQL, Umbraco, JQuery, and REST APIs.
The role involves custom site development, integration of analytics dashboards, and ensuring data security for grant reporting.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is necessary.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C# and JavaScript is essential.
Experience with software development frameworks and libraries including .NET 5+, JQuery, ReactJS, and Blazor is required.
Knowledge of web development, relational databases, and Unix-like operating systems is necessary.
Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL, MongoDB) and version control tools (e.g., Git) is required.
Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and deploying software applications is essential.
Knowledge of engineering best practices such as source control, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment, and peer review is required.
Experience with agile development methodologies and software design patterns is necessary.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical partners effectively.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities is necessary.
Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills are required, along with the ability to develop productive working relationships.
Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams is necessary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
