Description:

  • The Software Engineer will develop and maintain software applications for a public health association serving local, tribal, and territorial populations.
  • This role is part of the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI), a federally funded program aimed at improving public health agencies' information systems.
  • The position is remote but candidates must be based in the United States.
  • The salary range is $103,500-$143,500 per year, with individual offers based on experience and qualifications.
  • This is a grant-funded, limited-term opportunity ending on June 30, 2026.
  • Responsibilities include transitioning existing WordPress websites to Umbraco, ensuring secure data collection, improved site analytics, and an optimized user experience.
  • The Software Engineer will work with programming languages and tools such as C#.NET, Bootstrap, SQL, Umbraco, JQuery, and REST APIs.
  • The role involves custom site development, integration of analytics dashboards, and ensuring data security for grant reporting.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is necessary.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C# and JavaScript is essential.
  • Experience with software development frameworks and libraries including .NET 5+, JQuery, ReactJS, and Blazor is required.
  • Knowledge of web development, relational databases, and Unix-like operating systems is necessary.
  • Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL, MongoDB) and version control tools (e.g., Git) is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and deploying software applications is essential.
  • Knowledge of engineering best practices such as source control, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment, and peer review is required.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and software design patterns is necessary.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical partners effectively.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and priorities is necessary.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills are required, along with the ability to develop productive working relationships.
  • Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
