Remote Software Engineer, Compute

Description:

• The role is for a Software Engineer on the Compute Team, focusing on building and operating a Kubernetes platform for containerized workloads.
• The position is remote and reports to the Engineering Manager in the Core Infrastructure organization.
• Responsibilities include supporting the deployment and operation of multiple highly available Kubernetes clusters.
• The engineer will establish and enforce best practices for Kubernetes, including deployment patterns and sizing.
• The role involves developing solutions that support monitoring, metrics, and automation.
• Collaboration with other teams is essential to influence design for engineering excellence.
• The engineer will design, develop, and deliver significant features for service-to-service communication needs across DoorDash teams.
• The work environment is 100% Cloud (AWS) utilizing tools like Argo Workflows, Argo CD, kOps, and Prometheus.

Requirements:

• Candidates should have 2-5 years of experience as a software engineer in infrastructure and/or platform teams.
• Prior experience with modern infrastructure tooling, such as Kubernetes, in a production setting is required.
• Strong development skills in Go, Python, or other programming languages are necessary.
• Bonus points for experience in designing, developing, operating, and debugging high-traffic production systems.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Linux or similar operating systems and networking is advantageous.
• Candidates should be curious and driven to understand customer needs.
• A belief in providing valuable abstractions, clear customer SLOs, and meaningful KPIs is desirable.
• Prior contributions to projects within the CNCF community are a plus.
