Description:
The role is for a Software Engineer on the Compute Team, focusing on building and operating a Kubernetes platform for containerized workloads.
The position is remote and reports to the Engineering Manager in the Core Infrastructure organization.
Responsibilities include supporting the deployment and operation of multiple highly available Kubernetes clusters.
The engineer will establish and enforce best practices for Kubernetes, including deployment patterns and sizing.
The role involves developing solutions that support monitoring, metrics, and automation.
Collaboration with other teams is essential to influence design for engineering excellence.
The engineer will design, develop, and deliver significant features for service-to-service communication needs across DoorDash teams.
The work environment is 100% Cloud (AWS) utilizing tools like Argo Workflows, Argo CD, kOps, and Prometheus.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 2-5 years of experience as a software engineer in infrastructure and/or platform teams.
Prior experience with modern infrastructure tooling, such as Kubernetes, in a production setting is required.
Strong development skills in Go, Python, or other programming languages are necessary.
Bonus points for experience in designing, developing, operating, and debugging high-traffic production systems.
Familiarity with AWS cloud services is preferred.
Strong knowledge of Linux or similar operating systems and networking is advantageous.
Candidates should be curious and driven to understand customer needs.
A belief in providing valuable abstractions, clear customer SLOs, and meaningful KPIs is desirable.
Prior contributions to projects within the CNCF community are a plus.

The compensation package includes a base salary that ranges from $119,100 to $175,100 USD, depending on various job-related factors.
