Description:
InDebted is seeking a Software Engineer with a strong interest in Big Data to join their Foundational Engineering team.
This role combines Software Engineering with aspects of Data Engineering, focusing on evolving a multi-region AWS Data Lake built on Apache Iceberg and Athena.
The engineer will contribute to the development of a global non-PII data layer and bridge the gap between data infrastructure and Engineering teams.
Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
The engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems to support the growing data lake initiative.
The role involves leveraging AWS native components alongside Spark, Iceberg, and DBT to create efficient data solutions.
Continuous evaluation and integration of emerging big data technologies to enhance data architecture is expected.
The engineer will implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using CDK and Terraform to manage cloud resources.
The team operates with a lightweight, agile process that prioritizes cross-functional collaboration, autonomy, and knowledge-sharing.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer with a focus on data is required.
Expertise in AWS and experience with IaC frameworks like CDK and Terraform is essential.
Proficiency in various big data technologies and the ability to compare them is necessary.
A strong understanding of scalable, secure, and cost-effective data solutions is required.
Candidates should have a language-agnostic mindset with deep knowledge of various data technologies.
A commitment to well-written code and high-quality development practices is expected.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously are essential.
Comfort with agile methodologies, high-velocity environments, and a variety of programming languages (SQL, Golang, Python, Javascript) is necessary.
Familiarity with monitoring tools like AWS CloudWatch and Grafana is preferred.
Candidates should be able to drive features from conception to production and communicate complex ideas with diverse stakeholders.
