Description:
Canonical is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Data Infrastructure to contribute to building a comprehensive automation suite for multi-cloud and on-premise data solutions.
The role involves collaborating with a team to develop various data stores and technologies, including big data, NoSQL, cache-layer capabilities, and analytics, up to structured SQL engines.
The focus is on creating fault-tolerant mission-critical distributed systems and delivering top-tier automation solutions for data platforms.
The position offers opportunities for engineers at different levels, from junior to senior, based on experience and interests.
The role involves working remotely on a global scale and occasional travel for internal and external events.
Requirements:
Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
Proven hands-on experience in distributed systems.
Possess a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
Additional skills in operating and managing data platform technologies like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
Familiarity with Linux systems administration, package management, and operations.
Experience with public or private cloud solutions like OpenStack.
Knowledge of operating Kubernetes clusters for persistent data services.
