Description:

  • Canonical is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Data Infrastructure to contribute to building a comprehensive automation suite for multi-cloud and on-premise data solutions.
  • The role involves collaborating with a team to develop various data stores and technologies, including big data, NoSQL, cache-layer capabilities, and analytics, up to structured SQL engines.
  • The focus is on creating fault-tolerant mission-critical distributed systems and delivering top-tier automation solutions for data platforms.
  • The position offers opportunities for engineers at different levels, from junior to senior, based on experience and interests.
  • The role involves working remotely on a global scale and occasional travel for internal and external events.

Requirements:

  • Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
  • Proven hands-on experience in distributed systems.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
  • Additional skills in operating and managing data platform technologies like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems administration, package management, and operations.
  • Experience with public or private cloud solutions like OpenStack.
  • Knowledge of operating Kubernetes clusters for persistent data services.
