Description:
The Software Engineer will join the Labels team at Shippo, responsible for building and maintaining Shippo’s label core API and critical carrier integrations like USPS, UPS, and FedEx.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, testing, and deploying software services with high SLAs capable of handling millions of requests daily.
The role involves ensuring scalability and maintainability through microservices adoption, decoupling of concerns, queuing of jobs, and container-based software distribution.
The Software Engineer will also be involved in building and enhancing the CI/CD pipeline for smooth production releases, verifying system performance and correctness, and maintaining database schema for large-scale services.
Collaboration with business teams, participation in peer reviews and testing, and contribution to automated test suites are key aspects of the role.
The position requires being on-call to respond quickly to system incidents and championing testing procedures and automation for vertical and horizontal scale.
Requirements:
4+ years of software development experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Past success in building and supporting scalable APIs, services, or applications.
Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, various design and architectural patterns, and server-side programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Ruby).
Exceptional communication skills and a passion for customer success.
Ability to identify opportunities, foster innovation, and build for scale.
Experience with server-side MVC frameworks and database languages.
BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Advanced/Fluent English proficiency.
